A Message from the WM

The following is a message to the Brothers of Masters Lodge No. 5 from our WM, W.·. Ken Gibson.

Brothers,

I would like to thank all the EA's, FC's, newly raised Master Masons and Brothers who made it to DDGM RW.·. David Harris' visit to Mt. Vernon Lodge #3 on December 7th, 2009. I am very proud of the fact that we had a total of 17 Brothers there to hear RW.·. Dave give Grand Master MW.·. Edward Gilbert's message to our new Brothers. Our Lodge won the Traveling Gavel for having the most Brothers in attendance. It has been awhile since Masters Lodge won that award. My gratitude to Brother Eric Benson, our JW, for spearheading a great turnout. Remember the Toys for Tots box in the Albany Temple lobby and if not a toy try to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local pantry at our next meeting, December 14th at 7:30 PM. If you can't make our meeting I hope to see you next year at Lodge. Have a safe Holiday Season.

Fraternally,

W.·. Ken Gibson

Worshipful Master's Message for 2009 / 2010

The following was delivered by the Worshipful Master, W.·. Kenneth R. Gibson during the officers installation on Monday, May 11th, 2009.

"First of all I'd like to thank all the Brothers of Masters Lodge No. 5 for electing me as Master of the Lodge for the ensuing year. It is your trust in me to take on this responsibility which will give me the strength and wisdom to perform my duty to the best of my ability.

"The main reason I am here as a Mason is my father. My father became a Mason soon after his arthritis forced him to retire early. He mentioned to me many times that the Masons were the best fraternal organization out there. I really had no idea what "the Masons" were, but I had numerous contact with uncles, friends and neighbors who were Masons. My father discussed the "one-day" class with me and, at first, I was hesitant to join. I was never a "fraternity" type of guy. I decided I would join because it would mean a lot to my parents and so I could see what Masonry was all about.
